CA125 Test – Target Ovarian Cancer

Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, working to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research, and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer.

The brief

Target Ovarian Cancer needed an educational film series for GPs about CA125 testing and ovarian cancer diagnosis. The content needed to be both authoritative and engaging, featuring expert insights while remaining accessible for time-pressed healthcare professionals. They also wanted to create promotional content for social media to drive awareness of the educational resources.

The process

We began with comprehensive planning sessions with the Target Ovarian Cancer team to establish clear objectives, audience needs, and messaging strategies. Consultation with two GP experts helped shape the content approach, ensuring it would be both clinically relevant and practical for busy healthcare professionals.

To add depth and real-world context, we incorporated insights from a patient with lived experience. This combination of clinical expertise and patient perspective helped create a more rounded and impactful educational resource.

The project evolved into a multi-format approach:

• A comprehensive main educational film
• A series of shorter, focused segments for social media
• Animated graphics to explain complex medical concepts
• A podcast-style audio version, offering flexibility for GPs to engage with the content while on the move

Each format was carefully crafted to maintain consistency in messaging while optimising for different learning preferences and time constraints.

The Results

The educational content has shown promising early engagement, with hundreds views on YouTube for the main CA125 film. As a core educational product, Target Ovarian Cancer continues to promote the content through various channels, while gathering data to optimise their communication strategy with healthcare professionals.
