The Royal Free Charity commissioned a film to drive donations for their surgical robot fundraising campaign. They needed content that would effectively communicate the technical benefits of the robot while remaining engaging and accessible to potential donors.
Initial consultations with the communications team helped establish the creative direction and identify filming opportunities. A key component was securing access to film during live surgery, allowing us to capture the current surgical environment authentically.
We developed a multi-layered approach to storytelling, combining technical expertise with human impact. This included filming the surgeon both in action and through focused interviews, providing viewers with a comprehensive understanding of the robot's capabilities. To strengthen the narrative, we interviewed various staff members who could articulate the transformative impact the new surgical robot would have on patient care and surgical outcomes.
Understanding that different audiences might require different calls to action, we produced multiple versions of the film with alternative endings. We also captured a series of high-quality still images to support the broader fundraising campaign across various platforms.
The film has become a cornerstone of the charity's fundraising efforts for this vital piece of medical equipment, with the team reporting high satisfaction with how the content effectively communicates both the technical and human aspects of the project.
