The brief

Survival International needed full technical production for a press conference launching a report on uncontacted peoples and the threat of genocide. The event featured the charity's Executive Director, three indigenous people, actor Richard Gere, and on-stage translators. The challenge was to record the event for in-person journalists whilst simultaneously live-streaming to international ones on YouTube with multi-language auto-captioning. We also provided direct audio feeds to 2-3 press camera crews, and turned around clips for the charity’s social media within hours. The tight timeline and multi-language complexity meant the production needed to be slick, reliable, and fast - capturing compelling soundbites from the panelists while managing complex technical logistics in a venue with limited infrastructure.

The process

The press conference was held in September 2025 at Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery in London's Fitzroy Square, with a four-person crew. The setup included two cameras - a static feed for the live stream, and a roving camera capturing panel reactions and B-roll. Audio was complex: six standing mics for the panelists, two roaming mics for audience questions, whisper mics for interpreters, and direct feeds to the sound desk for press crews. The team used Zoom to compress the stream before routing to YouTube with auto-captioning. Roving footage was captured for rapid social media edits, producing one cut the same day and the remaining ones a few days later. A full recording of the press conference was also delivered.

The Results

Positive feedback from Survival International: "It was amazing. We could not have done it without you! Thanks for all your hard work, it all ran incredibly smoothly and professionally. "
